This project aims to define the notion of leisure and to reflect on its evolution in the light of current problems. This reflection has led us to the creation of a new activity in accordance with the spatial and social context.

The place imposed for the creation of this new leisure activity is the old sugar factory of San Isidro, located in Bodadilla, a municipality of Granada. A part of the sugar factory was chosen to be rehabilitated for the project. After research, it was decided to create a space where nothing is done.

The importance of boredom

With this proposal we want to promote and value boredom. According to the research process, we currently live in an era that promotes productivity. This can be seen in the amount of time spent at work. This also means using free time for entertainment, culture, sport, etc. So sterile free time or time in which nothing is done is disappearing. Yet it is precisely this time that is essential for well-being. So, inspired by meditation, the aim is to create a space that does not stimulate these users so that they can learn to be bored again, which will help them to reconnect with themselves, even encouraging qualities such as creativity.

This feeling has been achieved by simplifying the space in which this disconnection is offered. In addition, openings to the outside have been added, which will help people to free their minds.
