‘Estalviar’, un proyecto centrado en el ahorro.

Probably if you hear the word 'estalviar' it will not sound much to you, unless you know Valencian. This has been the title with which our student Marisa Gomis from the 3rd year of Interior Design has named her latest project.

Marisa tells us that her intention since she started this project was 'to save time and money, collecting existing furniture and adapting it to the new projected space'.

The space in question is the Gálvez Pharmacy located on a busy street in Granada, Mesones 6, where the interior has been completely redesigned with the minimum possible intervention.

The action required a previous analysis to catalog the existing furniture and contemplate the possible transformations. On the other hand, the actions concerning the walls and partitions of the space were proposed with walls made of two materials: plaster and exposed brick, illuminated by the use of directional spotlights. According to Marisa, 'This combination of materials manages to create a visual break by reducing monotony and increasing the feeling of 'cozy space' with the use of warm lights.'

The design of the shelves and counters, where the products for sale are placed, was transferred to the main wall thanks to the installation of a metal profile as a support structure. This made it possible to remove the perimeter glass and play with different heights to enhance the visibility of the products. Finally, the sales area was enlarged while preserving privacy thanks to the elimination of the wooden partitions that existed before the intervention.
