En voz baja; Un libro para promover la empatía

We live in an individualistic society, we face a lack of empathy and understanding in a world where we all believe that our way of thinking is the only correct one.

Every day we face problems such as gender violence, lack of sex education or intolerance towards people or minority groups for having a different ideology.

En voz baja aims to break with this imposed way of thinking, bringing to the public a series of stories told by different women who have gone through a difficult situation that has made them change and evolve.

It is a story told for those women who have gone through a similar situation in their lives, to make them see that they are not alone, and that despite everything we can move forward. But it is also a story with which to open our eyes and realize everything that needs to change. In a low voice'', consists of a series of stories told from the intimacy and reflection of different women who belong to this current of equality and change in which we live. They share their fears, concerns and their history in order to get a little closer to the reader and make us aware that there is still much to change, but we are getting there.

In the pages of En voz baja we can see reflected themes that refer to sisterhood, gender violence, sexuality, motherhood and even religion, all told from personal experiences written by the protagonists themselves.

Why a picture book?

This is because a book, as an object, is a treasurable product, in it we could include as many stories as pages we need.

Thanks to the book format we can write these stories and make them last in time. Reading a book is an experience that challenges us to identify with an environment, a situation, a character... It takes us to a different dimension where we can feel part of a story by seeing everything that happens in it. It allows us to live stories, learn from them and stimulate knowledge.

We read to strengthen our personality and to find out what our true interests are.

Harold Bloom in his book How to Read and Why.

In addition, thanks to illustration we can put a face to these stories, to those women who have decided to give us a little piece of them to treasure and read whenever we need it.

En voz baja has become a project full of feeling and formed by many more people who have decided to share this experience with us. It has also turned out to be a project of personal growth, making us participants and responsible for transmitting stories and, therefore, values linked to them that have a lot to teach society.

It has made us put ourselves in situations of people we might never have met, it is a project carried out to promote empathy, and without realizing it, at the end it has also changed our mentality and way of seeing things, observing more what previously went unnoticed.

Thanks to this personal value, we can reach a greater number of people, and we can feel more identified with one character or another, one story, or another...
