This travelogue is about connecting with Japan, creating memories of an experience, and taking them back home with you.
By rubbing and tracing the different embossed designs on the manhole covers, you don't just get a piece of Japan, you get a stamp of the place, the culture and the unique moment, which is not possible to reproduce in any other way.

The journal, intended as part of a collection for each prefecture in Japan, provides a holder, a tool and safe storage to get five of these unique decals.
The journal is inspired by Ishizuri-e, the traditional style of Japanese printmaking that mimics stone tracing. The binding technique solves the problems of bulging through different thicknesses and folds of the paper allowing for flat storage.
