INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOLAdaptive Reuse in Interiors  SHAPING TEMPORALITYMaterializing the Absence 12-18 July, 2023Şirince, Türkiye
Rosa María Company, student in the 2nd year of Interior Design at ESADA Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) in Turkey, from July 12th to 18th, 2023. Ten students from ESADA applied for an Erasmus program in a city in Turkey with the goal of carrying out a project alongside students from Greece and Turkey. I chose to join this experience because I believed it represented a great opportunity. Before our trip, we participated in various online seminars where we had the chance to get to know our future teachers and classmates. We arrived on July 13th to a small village in the Izmir region called Şirince. There, we met our future project partners; each team consisted of two Greek, two Turkish, and two Spanish students. Our project revolved around reflecting on the absence of a ruined hammam structure in the town of Selçuk. On a daily basis, we exchanged ideas, translated them into projects, and reached conclusions, which posed a challenge in communicating with people from different...
Didem Kaya, Interior Design student at TED UNIVERSITY (Turkey) Erasmus+ Mobility for studies at ESADA from February to June 2023.   I am Didem Kaya and studying Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at TED University, Ankara, Turkey. Before I came to Granada, I actually had no idea about the city since it was the only choice for the exchange programme. Because of that reason, the whole experience was a surprise for me. It could have been bad or good. However, fortunately, it ended up well! Granada is a multiple city in terms of cultures, so while you are discovering the city, you will see the diversity of cultures that have been in Granada for centuries. If you are interested in different cultures like me, you can enjoy its architecture, foods, and more. Especially, people in Granada are so intimate to spend good time, it is almost impossible not to feel the warm and sweet atmosphere even while walking on the street. They are the main reason why I really enjoyed the...
Daria Catrinoiu, Interior Design student at POLITEHNICA UNIVERSITY OF TIMISOARA (Romania) Erasmus+ Mobility for studies at ESADA from February to June 2023. During the second semester, I had the incredible opportunity to study at ESADA - Escuela Superior de Arte y Diseño de Andalucía, located in Granada, Andalusia, Spain. Thanks to the ERASMUS program, I had the chance to interact with students from various countries, which expanded my horizons with an international perspective. While comparing the education systems of Spain and Romania, I observed several intriguing differences across various aspects. The courses at the host faculty, such as Three-dimensional Construction, Environmental Design and Sustainability, Workspaces, Scientific Fundamentals Applied to Design, Digital Marketing 2, Design Management, and Installations 2: Electrical Engineering and Protection, provided fresh insights and expanded my knowledge base. The professors were not only professionals but...
Anna-Riika Jatsa, Product Design student at ESTONIAN ACADEMY OF ARTS (Estonia) Erasmus+ Mobility for studies at ESADA from February to June 2023. I am a second-year product design student, and I chose Granada for my Erasmus. My friend and I chose this city because of our love for Spain. I had developed a passion for the Spanish language as well, and I spent a lot of time studying it before coming to Granada. Also, the thought of being in Spain instead of Estonia for the coldest months seemed really nice. My personal reasoning was that I wanted to expand my knowledge of product design overall and do something that wasn't directly related to digital design. At ESADA, we first received a warm welcome with churros and got a small tour of Granada, which was a great first experience. We got information on how the classes are built and how the whole system works. It was actually quite similar to EKA, as we also do project-based lessons and focus on the project at hand in...
Fanni Dallos, Graphic Design student at HUNGARIAN UNIVERSITY OF FINE ARTS (Hungary) Erasmus+ Mobility for studies at ESADA from February to June 2023. I am a graphic design student from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, and I spent a semester at ESADA last spring. I studied in the 3rd year of the graphic design faculty. The system, the way they operate, and how the semester is structured are entirely different from my university. We have more smaller projects and more theoretical classes. I appreciated the approach of aligning classes with the main project and adding every detail to complete the bigger picture. However, if I may be honest, I often felt that the concept didn't always translate well into reality. I understand, of course, that time management and meeting deadlines are important in this profession. Yet, I felt at times that in the rush, the quality was compromised for the sake of quantity. While we are still in school, I believe that learning and growth...
Tommaso Corà, Product Design student at Università Iuav di Venezia (Italy) Erasmus+ Mobility for studies at ESADA from February to June 2023. Hello, I am Tommaso and I attended the 3rd year of product design course at Esada. If I had to describe my year abroad I would say it was amazing.  From the very first day in Granada I had a really good feeling in the city and with its citizens. Granada's lifestyle is something that you cannot find somewhere else, and the Spanish tradition makes the city and the people really warm. The first approach with Esada was beautiful. The director and the erasmus coordinator Felix are very kind and helpful in all the task we had during the mobility and they supported us for everything we needed. The product design course was very satisfying the subjects give the students the opportunity to discover different areas of design. In fact the course offeres at the same time the opportunuty to learn both, how to work with the materials and...
Hanna Johanson, Fashion Design student at ESTONIAN ACADEMY OF ARTS (Estonia) Erasmus+ Mobility for studies at ESADA from February to June 2023. I am a fashion design BA student from Estonia and I joined the ESADA family for the 2023 spring semester. When I was choosing my Erasmus destination, the decision was quite spontaneous. I knew I wanted to visit someplace warm, and as some of my friends were in Spain during that time, they recommended it to me because of the friendly communities and rich culture. Therefore I researched the Spanish partner universities and after coming upon ESADA, I locked my decision in pretty quickly. What I had imagined after my research was that ESADA was a school which made students feel included and gave them creative freedom, being professional yet having the energy of the community being a big friend group. That was proven to be right after I started my studies there. On the first day we were welcomed very warmly. We got a chance to get...
Simina Bârle, Interior Design student at POLITEHNICA UNIVERSITY OF TIMISOARA (Romania) Erasmus+ Mobility for studies at ESADA from February to June 2023. ¡Hola a tod@s!  ¿Qué tal? My name is Simina Bârle and I am studying Interior and Furniture Design at the Faculty of Architecture and City Planning in the most gorgeous city of Romania – Timișoara. During the second semester of my second academic year, I had the great opportunity of being here at ESADA through the Erasmus+ program, taking both the courses of Interior and Fashion Design. Through this little letter I want to describe my experience as an exchange student, but to also thank my colleagues and teachers that helped us and to encourage future students to be brave and apply for an Erasmus+ scholarship here, at ESADA. 😊 The opening day was the 3rd of February. That was the first time I met the other Erasmus students, the faculty staff and the teachers. They made a great job talking us through the structure...
Liudas Česnulis, Interior Design student at VILNIUS COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGIES AND DESIGN (Lithuania) Erasmus+ Mobility for studies at ESADA from February to June 2023. I am Liudas Česnulis, an interior design student from Vilnius College of Technology and Design. Granada was one of my first choices, and I haven't changed my mind. The reason was that I wanted to experience a lifestyle and education as different as possible, and Granada was the furthest point from Lithuania. I had already made this choice a year before leaving, so I was sure I would study in Granada. Preparing for this trip was not unexpected, so six months before my departure, I started learning Spanish on my own and looking for a place to live. After visiting many websites, I finally found an apartment through a Facebook student group, and I can say that I lived in one of the best places in Granada with a view of the Alhambra. From the first minute in Granada, I felt like home. I immediately fell in...
We are excited to share that ten Interior Design students are currently in Turkey, accompanied by our director, José Antonio González, and professor Mª José Durán! They are participating in the first Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) as part of the Erasmus+ program, with ESADA's involvement, organized by the research team of the Department of Interior Architecture at Yaşar University of Izmir (Turkey), with a focus on Restoration, Intervention, Transformation, and Modification (RITM Design & Research).
Fernando Ortega, Interior Design coordinator at ESADA Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching at BIRUNI UNIVERSITY in Istanbul (Turkey), from May 1st to May 5th 2023 Hi everyone! My name is Fernando Ortega and I’m going to tell you about my Erasmus adventure in Istanbul. This was my second Training mobility. Two years ago I visited Prague, in Czech Republic, and this time I was lucky to visit Istanbul, in Turkey, from May 1st to May 5th 2023. What amazing city! My first impression of the city was chaotic! Lots of people on the street, traffic, noise, etc. but soon you realize that is normal and you begin to fall in love with one of the largest and most intercultural cities in the word. From the very beginning you can feel the importance of the city from ancient times, with its impressive monuments to the present day, with modern buildings and skyscrapers My Erasmus agreement was made with “Biruni University” (https://www.biruni.edu.tr/en/). This university with...
